    Sure he will...
The longer you wait, the more money you could perhaps gather, therefore you have a much greater selling point to get hard working actors...

yeah of course, but unless you're very rich, raising money for such a project is very difficult for first time filmmakers.

I think the reason why star wars worked so well and became a classic was that it contained no really big well known stars (apart from alex guiness etc)

The point im trying to make is that, yes big names draw in big sales but dont you think that a well known actor gets stuck into the role we all remember him for? A film should be all about forgetting the actor and thinking about them as the actual part they are playing as if they really are that person. Great actors aspire to this but others dont. So sometimes unknown actors could be a better bet to really make a classic! However we all know hollywood is a money machine and doesnt hold this philosophy so hence small stars = small budget.

"Here is a good rule of thumb for renting movies. Check out who is in it before you rent it cus the bigger the name the better it will be."

    I am sad.

I am truly disappointed in you, pmweb.
I agree with you, marti-c. Take for example: Sean Pean.
When I saw Woody Allen's "Sweet and Lowdown", I missed the opening credits. I hadn't heard of the movie. To me, it was a pure experience. Not until 3/4 way through the movie did I realize the main character was Sean Pean. He didn't even have any extensive make-up. In fact, when I did notice, I couldn't believe how stupid I was to have not seen it. That is some damn fine acting. For that hour and 1/2, he was not Sean Pean. Yes, he's a large actor, but that's not what made him so amazing. It's not the name, it's the acting. I can't believe anyone would say otherwise.

This is all so academic: How the fuck are you going to get well known actors?
    Give me a break!

Give yourself a little credit. You will be the backbone of any project you attempt.
Look at Blair Witch Project. Need I say more?

Oh that pisses me off 'rent a video with a name on it.' Christ that attitude from a low budget film maker! Why the hell are you doing this then? How can you seriously expect anyone to watch your efforts if you approach the whole thing like that? since anything you create you wouldnt watch anyway....

    Go fuck yourself.
